Sin and Punishment
Is this on-rails shooter worth the $12 Nintendo expects you to? Why should you spend more money on an N64 game thats over 6 years old? find out
Sin and Punishment was never released outside Japan, despite including english voice-acting. It was a great chance for importers to boast, because bar a few menus, It could be easily understood. Not everyone had a japanese N64 though, and many americans never got to play it. Thankfully, Nintendo has released it on the VC, complete with english menus. Deaf people beware- the subtitles are still japanese.
The plot revolves around the destruction of Tokyo and a future love-story between Saki and Ayrnn, the games main characters. Its incredibly japanese- including morphing into a giant mech and fighting robot cats. names like Achi don't help either. The graphics are really nice for an N64 game, with colorful environments and a variety of locations.
Controls are simple- your main character moves for you, but you can still move left/right and jump. Tapping the shooting button twice when an enemy is close slashes a sword at them, also useful for deflecting projectiles in the boss fights. In my opinion, the GC controller wasn't very suited to the game, but with 3 different control options, you can probably choose something that works for you
The boss fights were very cool, particularly the side-scrolling bull fight, the massive lava monster fought as a giant mech on a magma drenched Tokyo, and the last fight, which I wont spoil.
Sin and Punishment is really great, and if your into on-rail shooters, is one to add to the collection
END SCORE: 8.5

Are you familiar with Panzer Dragoon Orta and, if so, is this game comparable to that? PDO was one of my favorite xbox games last gen!
