"But he didn't say fudge..."

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men was an extremely overhyped game before and when it came out.

However, that doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's just not as good as you were lead to believe.

You are Kane, an ex-con who was sprung out of prison by a fellow inmate named Lynch who is working at the behest of a group that you supposedly betrayed named The7. They have your wife and daughter and give you three weeks to bring back the money that you stole when you left them for dead, before you were caught and incarcerated. Oh yeah, and then they'll kill you. It's a pretty straight-forward and slightly confusing story that gets more dour and dark the farther you progress into the game. You can probably already guess by the title of the game that neither of the two endings in the game involve rainbows and kittens of any sort.

Graphically, the game looks as good as it should. During the game you'll travel to a few other locales than Anytown, California, USA. I really like the jungle setting you get into in the last few chapters of the game, i think that's where the game really shines graphically.

Honestly, there's not a whole lot to say about the game, Kane and Lynch are bad, desperate and in Lynch's case, psychotic men doing bad, desperate, and psychotic things. It's your typical 3rd person shooter with cover system and basic squad tactical commands. The story is starts off pretty mediocre, gets a little crazy, and then finally sinks in at the end of the game. It's not too long of a game, it has 16 short chapters. I made it through the whole game on the hard setting in about 9 hours. You'll also notice that the "f-bomb" is dropped a whole hell of a lot, that's why my review title is the way it is... it's a slight alteration of a line from "A Christmas Story".

Kane and Lynch also has a new multiplayer variant called "Fragile Alliance". In this variant, everyone starts off as a group of mercs pulling a heist. If you die as a merc, you respawn as a cop and have to stop the heist. As a merc, you can become a traitor by shooting your fellow merc buddy and stealing his money. Once you do this, you get the traitor label and anyone on your team can kill you for a reward, plus your former merc pal will be also gunning for you as a cop. The object is to get as much money as possible and escape the scene via the pick up point. Mercs that escape split their profits evenly. If only one merc makes it, he keeps it all. Cops get money for taking revenge on their betrayers and can take any money that is dropped by the mercs. It's a pretty unique multiplayer variant and it's really cool for the first few hours of play, because you never know who on your team is going to become a traitor (if anyone does).

I'd say Kane and Lynch is definitely worth a rent, if you're a fan of 3rd person shooters or action games. It was way overhyped before and on release, but even so, it's not a bad game.... it's just mediocre.
