Star Wars: The Force Unleashed had so much potential. I'll admitthat I have been watching this game since the first concept arts were uploadedonto the official star wars website. As a Star Wars fan, what more could Iwant? A next gen jedi game supposed to take the force to the next level?Awesome!

However, the game does not live up to its potential. This game hasso many frustrating, idiotic and frankly just stupid parts to it that it KILLSall of the positive points it has to it. The epic force powers, destruction andsome of the simply awesome things you can perform are the games greatestpoints. There were points during the game where I would simply stare inawe.

But after this 10 second long epic cut scene is done, you areshoved into a world of frustrating, repetitive gameplay, a terrible camerasystem, and controls that I found made some of the coolest moves feelrestricted. The combos were awesome when they were performed, but there was noway to demonstrate how to use the more complicated moves, and most of the movesI hardly ever performed. It seemed like I would press different buttons and itwould flip a coin to decide if I would hit the enemy with my laser-bat, orpound them into the air. And if I was even luckier, I would pull off someexciting jedi lightsaber moves in the air. I apparently had a few air attacks, but I only ever saw one actually used.

After fighting stormtroopers, combos and the camera throughenough of the very linear feeling levels, I would eventually stumble upon ajedi. Though most of these fights had similar gameplay (block, hope they didn'tuse their cheap move, wait for opening, ATTACK, quick-time-event), the cutscenes of their deaths were awesome. This is really where the force isunleashed, and brings in elements of the force that you have been dreaming of since'77. Unfortunately, these are castrated by the quick time events that distractyou from how awesome the kill really is, and become very frustrating.

If you're a star wars fan, you will enjoy this game enoughto play through it, and possibly do both endings (as I did). However, I wasable to beat the game in 5 days, and that was while working around a fullschedule of school, sports and homework. This game SCREAMS rental.

3 playit review it joysticks out of 5.
