Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 is a sharp looking "vacation" sim. You choose your favorite Dead or Alive girl and follow her on a 2 week vacation on Zack Island.

 The story is extremely ludicrous. Zack and his girlfriend, Niki, recover Zack Island from the depths of the ocean (I guess it sank in the first one.) using a flare that alerts his alien friends. The aliens use the tractor beam of their huge mothership to pull the island up from the ocean depths. After 2 weeks, the volcano erupts on the island and it sinks once again.

 If you are playing this game, you're not here for the story anyway. You're here for the latest advancements in "jiggle physics". I'll admit (ashamedly so) that one of my gripes with the game is that each breast seems to have it's own physics, so often times you'll see one breast bouncing down while the opposite one bounces up.. and having seen real boobs bounce, it's kind of annoying.

The main objective of the game is to accrue money (Zack Bucks) through competition in various beach sports. These include: volleyball, jetskiing, beach flags, pool hopping, tug-of-war, and the infamous "butt battle". You can also make or lose money at the casino during night time through: blackjack, poker, roulette, or slots. The money you get can be used to buy your girl new swimsuits, accessories, gifts for others, new jetskis, volleyballs, etc. There is an enormous amount of items to purchase and earn in the game. Each DOA girl has different tastes in colors, food, knicknacks, etc. Each girl also has about 25 different swimsuits for you to purchase, ogle, and take pictures of during "relax" sessions.

Each day in the game is broken up into 4 times of the day: Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Night. During the Morning, Daytime, and Evening sections you can do a plethora of things ranging from playing volleyball to racing other girls in a jetski or even just sunning yourself by the pool. You'll also have to partner up with another DOA girl to be able to play volleyball. You have to keep her happy or she'll pair up with another girl or leave the island. Also, girls that like you will send you gifts every evening at your hotel.

A few complaints, aside from the weird boob behaviour mentioned above. Volleyball can be really frusterating.  The controls are simple enough, one button press to either pass the ball or return it. It's your computer controlled "partner" that causes the most frusteration, along with finicky camera work. Sometimes your partner will be the best volleyball player ever and then the next moment she lets the ball land at her feet. The AI on your opponents changes with the wind too. Sometimes they will be barely competent and the next they'll be gold medalist volleyball champs. Also, the music offered isn't that great.. there's tracks by the Baha Men (they let the dogs out), Reel Big Fish and others. I didn't care for it, but fortunately, you can substitute your own music from either your 360 or your PC on the network.. which is what I did.

DOA Extreme 2 is a decadent, rich combo of cheesecake and volleyball. I wouldn't recommend buying this game at anywhere close to retail price. I picked up my copy for $7 at a Game X-change. The graphics are very eye pleasing, and playing is sort of relaxing and fun for the most part. If you've ever wanted to spend a day relaxing at the beach and taking photos of women in varying swim attire, this is the game for you.
